Think You Can Tell the Difference Between Bible and Book of Mormon Scriptures?

See if you can guess which verses are from the Bible and which are from the Book of Mormon! Good luck!

What's your level?
0-4 Correct: Mustard Seed
5-8 Correct: Tender Plant
9-12 Correct: Cedar of Lebanon
13-16 Correct: Tree of Life

How’d you do? Were you guessing on any of the questions? I would hope so. While the characters, stories, and locations of the two books differ, the Bible and the Book of Mormon share almost everything else in common. Those outside our faith sometimes say Mormons aren’t Christians (news flash!), and that the Book of Mormon preaches a different gospel than the one they believe. But take away the contextual hints and the texts don’t look all that different. Their message is the same. Take a look at these few verses:

“Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth.” (2 Nephi 2:6)

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.” (2 Nephi 10:24)

“Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.” (2 Nephi 2:8)

What could be more Christian than statements like these? If someone unearthed a long lost epistle of Paul saying these things, no one would have a problem with it. With that in mind, let's all decide now not to let anyone make groundless claims about our scriptures. It's the same message. Same language. Same gospel.

...Amen.
